Jim, Lorenzo, Jo and Mandred – these are the names of the strong characters in the new GULF Eyewear sunglasses‘ collection which was presented for the very first time during the Classic Days 2017 on Dyck Castle in Germany. The models play with the style of the Seventies, newly interpreted into the present with materials used in motorsports.
Automobile and racing sports fans well know the brand GULF since a very long time. The lightblue-orange Ford GT and after that, Porsche 917 were dominating the race courts and are icons of the racing sport since the Seventies.
The GULF-Porsche conquered the big screens with Steve McQueen’s race driver epic “Le Mans“. The passionate driver and “King of Cool“ chose the lightblue-orange racecar as chief character right beside him, himself wearing the GULF overall. The accessories shown in this film were hot and since then, also to be seen outside the race courts.
Behind this GULF Eyewear collection is the company Tenelenti GmbH, founded in August 2016 by two eyeglasses‘ professionals. The designer Wilhelm Groscurth – in charge of the creation and technical highlights of the collection – and Karin Hamann – the commercial head of the company – have been working in the optical industry for more than 25 years. Now, they used their wide experience for their first own sunglasses‘ collection. In cooperation with selected partners, extremely high-valued components are produced and completed to premium sunglasses by firstclass manufacturers. Carbon fibre temples made in Italy, German spring hinges, a sophisticated colour conception and top-class sunlenses assemble to a superior collection.
Jim, the classical pilot shape, shares with the more distinctive Lorenzo the carbon fibre temple mentioned before that can be adapted in the rear area. Die rubber inside guarantees perfect grip and the spring hinges provide the necessary contact pressure.
The classical GULF stripes and the GULF disc logo complete the frames.
Jo and Manfred are made of cellulosic acetate.
Jo – the frame with the Wayfarer look – shows temples of highly compressed Stainless Steel.
Manfred, the rather lusty guy, is completely made of cellulosic acetate with integrated spring hinges, invisible from the top.
On both models, the GULF stripes are inserted into the temples as a full material intarsia.
Jim and Jo are unisex shapes, compliant and agreeable for everybody.
All GULF Eyewear sunglasses are limited to 300 pieces of each model. Each frame has a serial number engraved and a certificated confirms the originality.
There is a special highlight in the colour options of GULF Eyewear: the metal styles Jim and Lorenzo can be varnished in any custom-made colour with a single-piece painting – even in the colour of the favourite automobile.
All styles can be optically glazed – so they are wearable for everybody.
All four sunglasses‘ models are offered in three different colours and they are fitted with sunlenses of optical class 1 in filter category 3. In addition, the lenses are finished with a 3-layer antireflection coating on the inside.
The frames are delivered in a GULF tinbox. For daily carrying a microfibre bag is added that is also perfect for cleaning frame and lenses.
The start during the Classic Days was a success – now, building up the collection and the brand will follow. Private customers may buy the product under www.gulf-eyewear.com. Opticians and wholesalers who are interested to pick up this brand may contact Tenelenti GmbH directly.
